What Is YohaWallpaper?
YohaWallpaper is a free wallpaper platform built as a side project by the same developer who writes this blog. It is not a general image site — it was designed specifically for people who care about desktop and mobile aesthetics and want wallpapers that are already filtered, categorized, and ready to download at the right resolution.
The platform currently has over 1,300 wallpapers across two types: curated static wallpapers organized by category and resolution, and original animated wallpapers created exclusively for the platform. No account is required to browse or download. The interface is fast, without pop-ups or forced redirects.
Curated Static Wallpapers
The static wallpaper library is hand-curated from Wallhaven, one of the largest dedicated wallpaper communities on the internet, with each wallpaper reviewed for quality before being added. Low-resolution images, heavily compressed JPEGs, and visually weak compositions are filtered out. What remains is a collection organized into specific categories: Anime, Gaming, Cyberpunk, Dark, Nature, Space, Cars, Minimalist, Fantasy, Abstract, Pixel Art, Technology, Illustration, Japan, Retro, Animals, Architecture, Landscape, and Digital Art.
Each wallpaper is tagged with real metadata — resolution, orientation, and category — so filtering is accurate. The collection is actively growing; new wallpapers are added regularly across all categories, with a focus on quality over volume.
Original Animated Wallpapers
The animated wallpaper section is what makes YohaWallpaper genuinely distinct. These are original MP4 videos created and selected by the developer for their visual quality as desktop wallpapers — not sourced from elsewhere. They are compatible with animated wallpaper tools like Lively Wallpaper on Windows and equivalent tools on Linux and macOS.
Filters and Search
The filter system was built around the actual decisions people make when choosing a wallpaper for a setup. You can filter by:
- Resolution — HD, Full HD, 2K, or 4K. Useful if you have a specific monitor resolution and want to download at native size without guessing.
- Orientation — landscape for desktop monitors, portrait for mobile screens. The Mobile filter shows only portrait-orientation wallpapers, which eliminates the issue of downloading a landscape image and realizing it will be cropped on your phone.
- Type — Static or Animated. If you are not using a tool that supports video wallpapers, you can filter those out entirely.
- Category — the 19 categories listed above, covering the main aesthetic directions most desktop setups fall into.
Search supports keywords in both English and Spanish — the platform auto-translates Spanish queries before searching, which makes it usable without switching languages. You can search by aesthetic term, subject, or tag and get relevant results without browsing through categories manually.
Who It Is For
YohaWallpaper is built for people who are actively working on a desktop setup and need wallpapers that fit specific visual criteria — not people casually browsing images. If you already know you want a 4K dark cyberpunk wallpaper for a 1440p monitor, the filter system gets you there in a few clicks. If you are building an anime setup and want to search by character name, the tag system supports that.
It is also the only source for the animated wallpapers on the platform, which are not indexed anywhere else. For animated wallpaper setups specifically — whether you use Lively on Windows or a similar tool on Linux — it is worth checking the Animated filter for what is currently available.
The platform is free, requires no account, and is updated regularly. You can access it at yohawallpaper.plyos.me.
